100 Days to Flipping HD63: Earning the Sierra Club Endorsement and Reaching 5,000 Doors

Today marks exactly 100 days until Election Day, and the grassroots momentum across North Carolina House District 63 continues to build!
Our dedicated team of volunteers has officially knocked on nearly 5,000 doors across Burlington and Alamance County, taking our vision for lower living costs and accountable government straight to voters’ doorsteps.
Adding to this major momentum, our campaign is thrilled to announce that we have received the official Sierra Club endorsement from the Sierra Club North Carolina PAC!
Lifelong Conservation and Executive Leadership
Environmental stewardship is a foundational value that has guided my entire life, my businesses, and my public service:
Lifelong Roots: My commitment began early attending the Northrop Urban Environmental Learning Center and earning the rank of Eagle Scout, spending decades hiking, camping, and volunteering in conservation.
Sustainable Business Innovation: At Isolate IT, we prioritize recyclable materials and zero-waste designs; at Burlington Beer Works, our cooperative model composts spent grains and partners with local farmers; and at Persnickety Books, we keep books in circulation and out of landfills.
Equitable Infrastructure: On the Burlington City Council, I championed an Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) stormwater fee to ensure large commercial properties pay for their runoff impact, funding long-overdue flood mitigation in under-resourced neighborhoods.
Clean Drinking Water: As Mayor and Councilmember, I helped lead Burlington’s aggressive efforts to identify point-source PFAS polluters, mandate pretreatment at the source, and upgrade municipal water treatment plants to protect our drinking water.
Bringing Sustainable Solutions to the General Assembly
Earning the Sierra Club endorsement highlights our shared priority to break the legislative supermajority and protect Governor Josh Stein’s veto against anti-environmental rollbacks.
In Raleigh, I will fight to reinstate state protections for critical wetlands, modernize the NCDOT funding formula to invest in municipal public transit and electric buses, hold corporate polluters financially liable for contamination, and accelerate the transition to clean solar and wind energy to lower utility bills for working families.
With 100 days to go and 5,000 doors behind us, we have the energy, coalition, and vision to flip this seat on November 3rd!
