Standing for Equality: Earning the NCDP Transgender Caucus Endorsement

Our campaign is deeply honored to receive the official NCDP Transgender Caucus endorsement in our race to represent North Carolina House District 63!

For me, the fight for equal rights, bodily autonomy, and dignity is deeply personal. My resolve is to ensure that Alamance County and all of North Carolina are places where every person is celebrated, safe, and empowered to live authentically.


A Proven Record of Community Advocacy

Throughout two decades of public service in Alamance County, I have made active inclusion a central pillar of my work:

  • Mayoral Leadership and Visibility: As Mayor of Burlington, I was honored to be the very first Mayor in our city’s history to officially attend Pride Day and issue a formal mayoral proclamation declaring Burlington Pride Day.

  • Grassroots Allyship: I have been a long-time supporter, volunteer, and donor for Alamance Pride and local advocacy groups, ensuring community needs are reflected in local discussions.

  • Creating Safe Community Spaces: At Persnickety Books, we intentionally cultivated our local bookstore to serve as a welcoming community hub and designated safe space for LGBTQ+ groups to organize and find fellowship.

Defending Human Dignity in Raleigh

Earning the NCDP Transgender Caucus endorsement reinforces the urgent stakes of this election. In the General Assembly, I will:

  • Protect the Governor's Veto: Act as a reliable firewall to sustain Governor Josh Stein’s veto against extreme, discriminatory legislation targeting transgender youth, public accommodations, or healthcare.

  • Defend Evidence-Based Healthcare: Oppose efforts to criminalize, restrict, or defund access to essential, gender-affirming healthcare.

  • Restore Municipal Authority: Fight to repeal state preemption laws so local communities like Burlington are fully empowered to pass and enforce comprehensive Non-Discrimination Ordinances (NDOs).

Every North Carolinian deserves to live free from discrimination. Together, we will build a state that protects and respects everyone.
