Stepping Up for Alamance County: Accepting the Nomination for NC House District 63

Last night was a deeply moving moment that brought me to tears. After 13 years and seven elections serving this community, I am deeply honored to officially accept the Democratic nomination to run for North Carolina House District 63.

The thought of eventually stepping away from my work on the Burlington City Council breaks my heart. We have fought so hard together to build a stronger city, and there is still so much work left to do. But right now, the actions of politicians in Raleigh are threatening the very fabric of our community and the ability of our local leaders to plan for our future.

While we work here in Alamance County to build up our neighborhoods, politicians in the state legislature are busy stripping away our local authority and making it harder for our hometowns to thrive. They are passing unfunded mandates and leaving local taxpayers holding the bag.

It is with a strong sense of duty that I take up this charge to forge a pathway toward a stronger Alamance County.

I am running because we need a leader in Raleigh who actually understands municipal budgets, respects local autonomy, and will act as a firewall to protect our progress. We must break the legislative supermajority, protect Governor Stein’s veto, and ensure that our tax dollars actually come back home to work for us.

I’ve spent a decade in the trenches of local government and as a small business owner. I’m ready to hit the ground running on day one. Thank you to everyone who has placed their faith in me over the years. I am honored to be your candidate.
